Dennis Lake is always a pleasure to visit. Having a magnificent time at Dennis Lake is simple. A lake close by is Golden Lake; going for a hike along the Europe Canyon Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. These mountains rock, just check out all the amusing things to do in the Wind River Range. Dennis Lake is not the only place nearby, Lake Louise is a nearby lake, and there are some tremendous whitewater spots on Pole Creek. This
lake is so wonderful. Best Western Pinedale Inn is a pleasant site to get some rest.
This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Dennis Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Scab Creek Campground is a delightful location for that, and if you come at the right time of year, Bull Lake Creek offers some great whitewater. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Dennis Lake. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's. Daytime highs all through

the wintertime are in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Dennis Lake throughout the wintertime regularly descend into the 10's. Hay Pass is in close proximity to Dennis Lake and is definitely a great spot to stop by, and at Dennis Lake you can see Mount Quintet.
You completely must adore the Wind River Range. The governing feature in the area is the Wind River Range, and Dennis Lake is right by the Hay Pass Trail. If you came to camp Boulder Campground is a great location to do that, and hiking along the Baldy Lake Trail is brilliant fun. Dennis Lake is generally a relatively dry site; most of the rain falls throughout June; the driest month is February.
This lake is located in the wonderful Wind River Range.

Hay Pass Trail
I backpacked over Hay Pass (from Boulder Lake Trailhead to to Golden Lakes) last July 25. Easy ascent to pass except for stream crossings, trail gets faint for about 1/4 mi.above Dennis Lake (quite a view down to the lake. At the outlet of the unnamed lake (Beth Lake???) below the pass on the west side (at head of North Fk Boulder Cr.) water was high & swift, so I routed eastward around to the head of the lake crossing 2 inlet streams where they braid apart. through thick willows- a slow deal, but better than hip-deep swift water at the outlet. Great cutthroat fishing at Victor Lake (on fish to 19) during a hail storm. Guess the fish thought the hail was a swarm of bugs. Saw nobody else from Victor lk. to Golden Lks and back (3 days). Not the most spectacular scenery in the range (peaks are mostly round-topped, not like the jagged peaks to the north or south), but no people and great fishing (Golden Lakes had lots of 14 goldens but they were not biting- typical of goldens). Going in again this July, only farther this time, north of Golden Lakes. Anybody going that way?...

Suicide Lake
12 miles away
Had some excellent fishing for brook & cutthroat trout at Suicide Lake in August '05. The fishing was so hot I caught 2 at once....

Sonnicant Lake
12 miles away
Lake is centraly located in the saint lawrence basin lakes. Good views, makina (lake)trout mostly, easy 9 hour hike....

I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....

Triangle Lake
15 miles away
This lake is almost impossible to get to. I have been within two miles of the lake and can't get to it because of the dangers that surround it. There are cliffs and the trail to the lake is a slippery waterfall....

Double Lake
15 miles away
Fish it with royal wolfs being stipped on top of the water, big cuttthroats will slam it...
