Not much rain falls here at Dennis Lake; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily June, that's the one that rains the most, and February is the month with the least moisture. Don't leave Dennis Lake without first going for a hike along the Hay Pass Trail, and from Dennis Lake you acquire a magnificent view of Mount Quintet. So many fun things to do in the Wind River Range, not sufficient time. You'll find a scenic lake called Lake Louise near Dennis Lake;

| | camping is available at Scab Creek Campground. The Wind River Range scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Best Western Pinedale Inn is a great choice. If only every place had this much outdoors fun things, what a great earth it would be. A scenic lake like Golden Lake in close proximity to Dennis Lake is a splendid site to visit, and if you came for an overnight stay Boulder Campground is a great location to camp. | |

Dennis Lake sits in the shade of the Wind River Range, and get your heart pumping on the pleasant whitewater of Pole Creek. This spot, the Wind River Range, has so much outdoors cool stuff. There's tremendous hiking along the Europe
Canyon Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Bull Lake Creek. At Dennis Lake during the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's.
The winter comes with highs in the 30's; all through the dark hours in the winter at Dennis Lake temperatures sink to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Baldy Lake Trail, and Hay Pass is another great place to go to nearby.

Hay Pass Trail
I backpacked over Hay Pass (from Boulder Lake Trailhead to to Golden Lakes) last July 25. Easy ascent to pass except for stream crossings, trail gets faint for about 1/4 mi.above Dennis Lake (quite a view down to the lake. At the outlet of the unnamed lake (Beth Lake???) below the pass on the west side (at head of North Fk Boulder Cr.) water was high & swift, so I routed eastward around to the head of the lake crossing 2 inlet streams where they braid apart. through thick willows- a slow deal, but better than hip-deep swift water at the outlet. Great cutthroat fishing at Victor Lake (on fish to 19) during a hail storm. Guess the fish thought the hail was a swarm of bugs. Saw nobody else from Victor lk. to Golden Lks and back (3 days). Not the most spectacular scenery in the range (peaks are mostly round-topped, not like the jagged peaks to the north or south), but no people and great fishing (Golden Lakes had lots of 14 goldens but they were not biting- typical of goldens). Going in again this July, only farther this time, north of Golden Lakes. Anybody going that way?...
Suicide Lake
12 miles away Had some excellent fishing for brook & cutthroat trout at Suicide Lake in August '05. The fishing was so hot I caught 2 at once....
Sonnicant Lake
12 miles away Lake is centraly located in the saint lawrence basin lakes. Good views, makina (lake)trout mostly, easy 9 hour hike....
Ice Lakes
13 miles away 1 PHOTO I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....
Triangle Lake
15 miles away This lake is almost impossible to get to. I have been within two miles of the lake and can't get to it because of the dangers that surround it. There are cliffs and the trail to the lake is a slippery waterfall....
Double Lake
15 miles away Fish it with royal wolfs being stipped on top of the water, big cuttthroats will slam it...
