Beautiful Deep Lake has much to offer visitors. Deep Lake is one of the lakes here in the Wind River Range. Clear Lake Dam has delightful water scenery and it's next to Deep Lake, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Lizard Head Trail. All through the warm months at Deep Lake temperatures are regularly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in

| | the 10's to Deep Lake. Lakes are glorious; Temple Lake is a lake that's in the neighborhood of Deep Lake, and close by you stumble on the Crows Nest Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. Now, you may assume that's heaps but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Deep Lake. Rodeway Inn Pronghorn Lodge is a splendid location to get some rest; camping at Dickinson Creek Campground is always a nice experience. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp | |

Big Sandy Campground is a fine site to do that, and the Big Sunday Trail is a great hiking trail close by. This location, the Wind River Range, has so much outdoors enjoyable stuff. One of the main highlights of the surroundings
of Deep Lake is Big Sandy Mountain, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out close by Miller Lake. Not much precipitation falls here at Deep Lake; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month of the year is December. So much amusing stuff to do in the Wind River Range, not enough time.

Papoose Lake
Lake seemed fishless although a beautiful lake. Was there 2 days and only saw 1 rise. Nice place to camp though as there is low traffic. Make sure you follow outlet to avoid massive rock pile....
Bears Ears Trail
The Bears Ears trail is superb. My Sierra Club crew did a lot of trail work here near Mt. Chavenet, and built the replacement Moss Creek footbridge. The Washakie Ranger group are great!...
Ice Lakes
14 miles away 1 PHOTO I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....
Sonnicant Lake
15 miles away Lake is centraly located in the saint lawrence basin lakes. Good views, makina (lake)trout mostly, easy 9 hour hike....
Gustave Lake
18 miles away I was told by my Grandmother (Olive Bentley) that this lake was named for her father Gustave States, the owner of the Canyon Ranch. He had homesteaded Sinks Canyon and the surrounding area, where my grandmother remained until just prior to her death in 1976 at the age of 96....
