Deadman Lake is a lake worth visiting. So much cool stuff to do at Deadman Lake, so little time. Don't leave Deadman Lake without first going for a hike along the Europe Canyon Trail, and there are other places here than Deadman Lake, for example Hatchet Lake. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors entertaining things the Wind River Range has to offer. There are good locations to discover along the Fremont Trail, and Boulder Campground is a great campground

| | nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Super 8 Motel - Dubois is a wonderful place to get some rest; there's pleasant hiking along the Middle Fork Trail. Get soaked paddling on Bull Lake Creek, and not far from Deadman Lake you'll come across Alpine Lake which is a delightful lake. Around Deadman Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain; the driest month is February. Deadman Lake is one of | |

the lakes here in the Wind River Range. All through the days of summer highs here at Deadman Lake get into the 80's with night lows in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights
at Deadman Lake are in the 10's. Whohoo, so many fun things in one place! The Wind River Range rules! Getting to South Fork Bull Lake Creek from Deadman Lake is trouble-free, and if you came for an overnight stay Scab Creek Campground is a delightful place to camp.

Hay Pass Trail
I backpacked over Hay Pass (from Boulder Lake Trailhead to to Golden Lakes) last July 25. Easy ascent to pass except for stream crossings, trail gets faint for about 1/4 mi.above Dennis Lake (quite a view down to the lake. At the outlet of the unnamed lake (Beth Lake???) below the pass on the west side (at head of North Fk Boulder Cr.) water was high & swift, so I routed eastward around to the head of the lake crossing 2 inlet streams where they braid apart. through thick willows- a slow deal, but better than hip-deep swift water at the outlet. Great cutthroat fishing at Victor Lake (on fish to 19) during a hail storm. Guess the fish thought the hail was a swarm of bugs. Saw nobody else from Victor lk. to Golden Lks and back (3 days). Not the most spectacular scenery in the range (peaks are mostly round-topped, not like the jagged peaks to the north or south), but no people and great fishing (Golden Lakes had lots of 14 goldens but they were not biting- typical of goldens). Going in again this July, only farther this time, north of Golden Lakes. Anybody going that way?...
Ice Lakes
1 PHOTO I went up there 15 years ago and just got back from another week this last weekend....the fishing was much, much better in the past. I think the WY Game and Fish spends all their golden trout stocking funds on wolves now. The stocking ended the year the wolves were reintroduced.........Hmmm, isn't that interesting! Also....too many llamas and horses bringing the light-weights up the mountain to clutter the place this time....the trails looked like a lost group of Custard's cavalry must still be riding the trails. :( But the beauty of the area will always remain. Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful handiwork....
Scab Lake Trail
15 miles away scab lake trail is not one for the weak, it is a hard climb with outstanding rewards of beauty & huge high powered brilliantly colored brook trout up to 6 lbs that we know of in scab lake! oh almost forgot the last time I went was July 5 it snowed at scab 18 plus inches, I hope that I remembered to tell that the 11 mile trail to the scab lake is a hard hard climb, I have only made it 3 times to the lake thanks Allen Eagle concrete worker & stock car racer Jackson Hole...
Bears Ears Trail
15 miles away The Bears Ears trail is superb. My Sierra Club crew did a lot of trail work here near Mt. Chavenet, and built the replacement Moss Creek footbridge. The Washakie Ranger group are great!...
Double Lake
17 miles away Fish it with royal wolfs being stipped on top of the water, big cuttthroats will slam it...
Suicide Lake
19 miles away Had some excellent fishing for brook & cutthroat trout at Suicide Lake in August '05. The fishing was so hot I caught 2 at once....
