Cook Lake gets very little precipitation; during June this area sees the most rain while February is typically the driest month. This lake is one of the great places here in the Black Hills. The scenery at Lake Cook Dam close to Cook Lake is wonderful, and if you came for an overnight stay Mountain View Campground is a magnificent location to camp. Just can't get enough of       the Black Hills. Devils Tower National Monument is a perfect local destination here at Cook Lake. All through the warmest time of the year, highs regularly are in the 80's at Cook Lake while night lows are typically in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Cook Lake throughout the winter commonly drop into the 0's. Don't leave Cook Lake without first going for a hike along the Simmons Trail, and a short visit                  to Scott Spring is always worthwhile. And that's not all there is to do here in the Black Hills. There's fine hiking along the Lanning Trail, and if you need a place to stay Best Western Inn At Sundance is a pleasant choice. If you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Cook Lake. Good hiking is available along the Rauth Trail, and some of the water close by flows, like Deer Creek. This lake is so wonderful.
