     Chain Lakes is a nice lake to visit. Nearby lakes? Sure, Cliff Lake is near Chain Lakes; if you need a spot to stay Lupine Inn Red Lodge is a nice choice. Summertime highs at Chain Lakes frequently tend to be in the 70's while nighttime lows are frequently in the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's; overnight lows through the wintertime for Chain Lakes tend to be in the 0's. The yearly precipitation here at Chain Lakes is about average; most of the  
   rain falls through June, and October is the month with the least moisture.
Be careful coming to the Absaroka Range, you might not ever want to return back home again. Why not camp at Island Lake Campground since you're here at Chain Lakes, and everybody nearby loves skiing at Red Lodge Mountain. Go for a hike on the Beauty Lake Trail, and a good location to camp here at Chain Lakes is Long Lake Campground. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors fun
 
               stuff the area in close proximity to Chain Lakes has to offer. Near Chain Lakes you stumble on the Lewis and Clark Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail; get your heart pumping on the pleasant whitewater of Clarks Fork Yellowstone River.
That right there is loads of fun things already but it goes on, the Absaroka Range has it all. Chain Lakes is one of the lakes here in the Absaroka Range. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Beartooth Loop National Recreation Trail is always a good adventure; a perfect place for whitewater paddling is Clarks Fork Yellowstone River.
