This lake is so wonderful. Near Blacktail Ponds you stumble on the Beaver Creek Trail which is a great hiking trail, and a day on the slopes of Snow King is just what you need. Blacktail Ponds is pretty dry generally; during January
this area sees the most snow; July on the other hand is the driest. Summer at Blacktail Ponds arrives with high temperatures in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's with
winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Blacktail Ponds. Blacktail Butte is a peak you can make out from Blacktail Ponds, and a great spot to visit is Carpenter Draw.
