Blacktail Pond is always a pleasure to visit. The Absaroka Range scenery is always beautiful. Don't leave Blacktail Pond without first paying a visit to Wraith Falls; Super 8 Motel - Gardiner is a delightful spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Lower Blacktail Trail, and hey, Lupine Creek is a splendid local stream.

| | down the rapids of Mulherin Creek in a kayak, and if you came to camp Lava Creek Campgrounds is a perfect place to do that. Blacktail Pond is usually a pretty dried out site; most of the rain falls through May, and February meanwhile is the driest month. There are glorious places to explore along the Lower Blacktail Trail, and camping at Eagle Creek Campground is always a good experience.
