This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Snake River Lodge And Spa, and camping is available at
Teton Village / Jackson West KOA. What would a site like Amphitheater Lake be without exciting close by features like Middle Teton Glacier, and if you feel like a little side journey, try Avalanche Canyon. Be careful coming to the
Teton Range, you might not ever want to go back home again. There's perfect hiking along the Cascade Canyon Trail, and a good site to camp here at Amphitheater Lake is Jenny Lake Campground.

is so wonderful. Don't leave Amphitheater Lake without first going for a hike along the Valley Trail, and why not head up to Snow King and strap some skis to your feet. Throughout the warm months here at Amphitheater Lake, high temperatures
commonly get into the 70's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Amphitheater Lake.
This is a good area
for people who like lakes. Surprise Lake is a lake in close proximity; the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Jackson Hole. Amphitheater Lake is generally a rather dried out site; May is the wettest month with most rain, and August is when it's the driest.

Lake Solitude Trail
 | July 18, 2008 Just got back from a hike to the lake yesterday. Always incredibly beautiful at any time of year (when the trail is open) A lot of flowers blooming earlier than usual because of the copious amount of melt. A bull moose, sow and calf near the trail just past the fork. The last half mile is covered in snow so that can slow you down a little. The lake is still almost completely iced over. Saw two 13'' fish (trout?) in the small, open area of the lake. Marmots snuck around our lunch spot hoping for a hand-out (don't feed anything). One of the most beautiful hikes around. If you think you're a strong hiker but haven't done many hikes or aren't used to the altitude, bring enough water for about a seven hour hike. Stronger hikers can make it in about 5 1/2 hours & seasoned hikers less--but count on a bottle of water (and Gatoraid) every hour.... |
Jenny Lake Campground
 | We love Jenny Lake and want to camp their with our family and friends...4 kids, 4 adults. I am worried about not having reservations....is that a problem?...Jenny Lake Campground was awesome. The view was amazing. It was quite and secluded, the camp store is just a short walk from the camping sites. The lake is beautiful and quiet, no boats zipping around. We stayed at site #50, other sites that I would recommend are 45,46 and 47. These sites have the best view. The best thing was the FLUSH toilets. If you want a vacation away form all of the touristy things you should definitly stay at Jenny Lake. If you get there in the afternoon grab a site. You can always move the next day. It seemed like a lot of people only stayed 1 night.... |

| Gros Ventre (pronunced GROW-VONT)Campground in Grand Teton National Park is not to be missed. Moose viewing is spectacular, as well as hearing wolves, coytoes, and the sounds the Bison make walking through the campground. Depending on your campsite, try to be close the the Gros Ventre River for Moose viewing, or try to go towards the town of Kelly, for the most magnificent views of the Teton Range.... |
