This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Allen Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Wagon Box Campground is a wonderful spot for that, and in the event that you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Clear Creek. There are great sites to explore along the Penrose Park Trail; do explore Allen Dam while you're here.       Allen Reservoir is a location that is reasonably dehydrated regularly; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily April, that's the one that snows the most, and February on the other hand is the driest. Be careful coming to Allen Reservoir, you might not ever want to go back home again. Antelope Butte is a great local ski area; swing by East Fork Kruse Creek it's a magnificent place to explore. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 60's to Allen                  Reservoir. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 30's. Through the wintertime the highs are generally in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Allen Reservoir sink into the 0's. If you need a location to stay Sheridan-Days Inn is a good choice, and do explore Moncreiffe Reservoir, it's a lovely lake. Going for a hike on the Stockwell Trail is always a great adventure, and Johnson Draw is in the neighborhood, and is a good location. This lake is so wonderful. There is a good hiking trail close to Allen Reservoir called the Story Penrose Trail; if you came to camp Cabin Creek Trailer Campground - Bighorn National Forest is a wonderful site to do that.
