Tygart Lake is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. A great deal of precipitation falls at Tygart Lake; July is the wettest month with most rain while February is regularly the driest month. Why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Tygart Lake Public Golf Course, and after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Fairmont,Wv is a wonderful location to spend a night or two. If you need a site to stay Fairmont Super 8 Motel is a perfect choice,

| | and Tygart Lake is a nice place to visit for more than one day, Tygart River Camping Area is a nice place to camp nearby.
This lake is so wonderful. There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Sandy Creek, and lakes are such peaceful locations, why not stop at Arwright Mine and Pond. But wait, there's more to do in close proximity to Tygart Lake. Tygart Dam has tremendous water scenery and it's near Tygart Lake, and there are other sites here than Tygart | |

At Tygart Lake during the summer highs are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 60's. Highs through the winter are mostly in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Tygart Lake.
Whisper Mountain Campground is a great local campground, and you'll perhaps meet some folks from Fairmont here. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Tygart Valley River, and as expected Berkeley Run flows through this region.

In the 1939's my grandfather built the first cabin on Rock Lake. He built a log cabin form the trees cut down to form the lake. The cabin was called Shamrock Shanty. I caught my first at Rock Lake and learned how to row a boat. The cabin has been torn down, but I will never forget the good times my family had there....
