You just can't envision the amount of outdoors exciting stuff the area close to Sutton Lake has to offer. Very delightful water scenery is available at Sutton Dam next to Sutton Lake. Sutton Lake is a wet place that gets a large amount of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. A perfect place to camp       here at Sutton Lake is Flatwoods KOA, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Birch River. Bee Run is near Sutton Lake and is always a pleasure to stop by, and camping is available at Camp Caesar. A pleasant close by hotel is Microtel Gassaway Sutton, and if you come at the right time of year, Laurel Creek - Elk River Tributary offers some fine whitewater. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Sutton Lake; Park View Trail is a delightful local trail, and if you                  need a place to stay Sutton - Days Inn Flatwoods is a great choice. The warmest time of the year at Sutton Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and the night is a tad cooler of course, usually in the 60's.
