If you come at the right time of year, Laurel Creek - Elk River Tributary offers some good whitewater. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Sutton Lake has to offer, you can camp at Flatwoods KOA. Lakes are such serene places, why not go to Birch Lake close to Sutton Lake, and a good close by hotel is Microtel Gassaway Sutton. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Birch       River, and if you need a spot to stay Sutton - Days Inn Flatwoods is a perfect choice. During the summer months highs here at Sutton Lake get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Sutton Lake fall into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. There are other spots here than Sutton Lake, for example Burnsville                  Lake. There's so much to do here at Sutton Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Caesar is a good spot for that. Now, you may believe that's lots but there's even more exciting stuff to do here at Sutton Lake. Going for a hike on the Park View Trail is always a good adventure, and there's always Sutton Dam to have a look at right next door to Sutton Lake.
