This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Summit Lake is next to Summit Lake, and nearby you find the Fork Mountain Trail which is a splendid hiking trail. If you want a good time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Summit Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Four Seasons Lodge, and there's some flowing water nearby, Big Glady Run is a stream you can go to while you're here. If you come at the right time       of year, Cranberry River offers some delightful whitewater, and a good site to camp here at Summit Lake is Summit Lake Campground. Summit Lake Dam is a pretty site in the vicinity of Summit Lake, and the summit of Hanging Rock can be observed from Summit Lake. All through the warm days of summer at Summit Lake temperatures are commonly in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in                  the 40's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Summit Lake tend to be in the 20's. Goose Hollow is near Summit Lake and is a brilliant place, and going for a hike on the Pocahontas Trail is always a tremendous adventure. There are some splendid whitewater spots on Cherry River - North Fork; camping is available at Cranberry Campground. All the water falling down from the sky makes Summit Lake a wet place; the wettest month of the year is commonly July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful.
