Go to Stony River Reservoir if you want to go to a nice lake. It's a magnificent idea to check out Mud Run, it's right next door to Stony River Reservoir, and you can have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Breathed Mountain Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Stony River Dam is an out of the ordinary thing to check out, and going for a hike along the Stonecoal Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. | | Valley, and Mount Storm Lake is a good lake nearby. Head up to Timberline and strap some skis to your feet, and hiking along the Blackbird Knob Trail is glorious fun. You completely have to fancy Stony River Reservoir. Camping at Red Creek Campground is always a wonderful experience; there are some nice whitewater spots on Stony River. This lake is so wonderful. warm months highs here at Stony River Reservoir get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's; throughout the dark hours in the winter at Stony River Reservoir
temperatures descend to the 10's. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Difficult Creek, and dry warm beds await you at Canaan Valley Resort and Conf Ctr. Stony River Reservoir gets a lot of water; July is the wettest month with most rain; February is the month with the least moisture.
