Back Creek
 | 11 miles away i do not agree with the II(III) rating of the creek. it is similar in difficulty to nearby sleepy creek and i have no problems paddling this section going upstream (in low water) as well as down. there is also a much more convenient take out at Rt. 3/2 that costs you a mile or so of water but significantly shortens the shuttle. i have not yet used the new gauge upstream of this section for calibration, but if opequon creek at martinsburg is at 3' and sideling hill creek gauge is at 1.4' - the creek should be up.
tilhance creek is very beautiful and has just about every kind of wildlife as well as nice cliffs. use the Rt. 3/2 take out. you will need close to 60 CFS on Hogue Creek to boat tihance.... |
