There is a wonderful hiking trail next to Silver Lake called the Plantation Trail, and a perfect close by hotel is Canaan Valley Resort and Conf Ctr. On a delightful day at Silver Lake you can take a hike along the Boundary Trail, and Timberline has fine slopes and a friendly staff. Lots of people from Morgantown come to Silver Lake, and if you get bored of Silver Lake you could also stop at nearby Elk Run Reservoir.       This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart pumping on the tremendous whitewater of Blackwater River. There's so much to do here at Silver Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Blackwater Falls Campground is a great place for that. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting things in the neighborhood of Silver Lake. Really great skiing awaits you at Canaan Valley, and Silver Lake is not the only site close by, Terra Alta Lake is a close by lake. Hoye-Crest                  is trouble-free to spot from Silver Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Blackwater River - North Fork. All through the warm months highs here at Silver Lake get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Silver Lake. Wisp Resort is a good spot to get some rest; getting to Sand Spring Run from Silver Lake is trouble-free. What a place this is for outdoors people. Silver Lake is a wet place that gets a great deal of precipitation; July is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is October. This lake is so wonderful.
