Lake Shawnee is an Old lake with a Amusement park on it.The amusement park is now shut down because of to many fatality's.The rides are still visible and the amusement park is said to be haunted.They still hold fishing tournaments for catfish there every week. The amusement park was built in memory of Michel clays children who were killed on the property by Indians because they were playing on a old graveyard.

Go to Lake Shawnee if you want to go to a nice lake. This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Bluestone River, and Winterplace has nice slopes and a friendly staff. Take a little trip to Blankenship Branch since you're here at Lake Shawnee. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Lake Shawnee has to offer, you can camp at Pipestem Koa Kampground. High temperatures at Lake Shawnee throughout the summertime are in the

| | 70's, and the nighttime is a bit colder of course, mostly in the 50's. All through the wintertime the highs are generally in the 30's while Lake Shawnee night low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's.
A nice spot for whitewater paddling next to Lake Shawnee is Camp Creek, and Periwinkle Bottom is a tremendous place to stretch your legs a bit. Don't leave Lake Shawnee without first checking out Lake Bottom, and a short visit to Harvey Spring is | |

always worthwhile. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Gateway Motel is a glorious place to spend a night or two, and do take a hike on the Pearis Thompson Horse Trail.
From a rainfall point of view Lake Shawnee
is a pretty common place; July is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month of the year is February. No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a splendid time here at Lake Shawnee. Lake Shawnee is right by the Hoof and Hill Trail.
There's so much to do here at Lake Shawnee that you need to camp here for a while, Richwood Golf Club is a brilliant location for that. While you're here at Lake Shawnee you will meet lots of folks from close by Bluefield, and Airway Motel is a fine place to get some rest.
