Lake Shawnee is an Old lake with a Amusement park on it.The amusement park is now shut down because of to many fatality's.The rides are still visible and the amusement park is said to be haunted.They still hold fishing tournaments for catfish there every week. The amusement park was built in memory of Michel clays children who were killed on the property by Indians because they were playing on a old graveyard.

Many people like to go to Lake Shawnee. There's tremendous hiking along the Hoof and Hill Trail, and Periwinkle Bottom is a glorious place to stretch your legs a bit. If you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Lake Shawnee. Lake Shawnee is great enough to spend more than a day at, Wagon Wheel Atv Campground is a great local campground; whitewater paddling is good on Bluestone River. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Lake

Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express PRINCETON/I-77, and if you've had enough of Lake Shawnee, Douglas Lake is nearby. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay SUPER 8 MOTEL - PRINCETON is a good choice, and a trip to Lake Shawnee wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Harvey Spring. Gotta ski! Lake Shawnee gets a typical amount of precipitation; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is February. High temperatures at Lake Shawnee throughout
the warmest time of the year are in the 70's with night lows in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Lake Shawnee. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here
at Lake Shawnee that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Creek State Forest is a brilliant site for that, and the friendly people of Bluefield like to hang out nearby.
If you're interested in cool geologic highlights, try Lake Bottom, and get wet paddling on Camp Creek.
