The slopes of Snowshoe are so inviting noone can resist; Scott Lake is a great location to visit for more than one day, Big Bend - Monongahela National Forest is a great location to camp nearby. The Yokum Hunter Access Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Roaring Creek - Tygart Valley River Tributary is so much fun; dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Elkins. If you need a place to stay Hampton Inn Elkins is a great choice,

Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Scott Lake is right by the Crouch Hunter Access Trail; Scott Lake Dam is not far at all from Scott Lake. Why not visit nearby Carrick Run if you're here at Scott Lake, and the view of Harper Knob is scenic. Whitewater paddling is good on Cheat River - Shavers Fork. The high level of precipitation makes Scott Lake a pretty wet place; during the month of July you get the most rain around here, and February is the
month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Chestnut Ridge Trail, and if you've had enough of Scott Lake, Teter Creek Lake is nearby. The warmest time of the year at Scott Lake comes with high temperatures
in the 80's while overnight lows are regularly in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Scott Lake.

 | Out of all the WV and Ohio State Parks I have vacationed at. Stuart's is the best. Stuart's is a very clean state of the art camping facility. My favorite part of Stuarts was the fact there was gravel at every campsite so on those rainy days you were not fighting mud! I camp here at least 2 or three times a year and will come back here every year!... |

TENT:Twenty acres of rustic camping, yet very close to brand new shower house. Camping area includes sunflower gardens, grass maze for hiking and birdwatching, pond for fishing and lots of open mountain views. Very peaceful and quiet., RV:10 full hookup with 50 amp electric, water, and sewage, 7 partial hookup, - 17 RV hookups, PETS:No man-eating dogs allowed, FIRES:In fire pits only, STORE:Wal-Mart is only a mile away., GROCERY:Food Lion less than a mile away....

The campground is nestled between two mountain chains in the center of the Tygart Valley, bordered on one side by Chenoweth Creek (a great warm-water fishing stream!), and thousands of acres of cornfields on the other.
Although it is only two miles from downtown Elkins and just over a mile from Wal-Mart and the local laundromat, it is completely isolated and very, very quiet. You can see every star in the sky on a clear night.
Facilities include: 10 roomy full hook-up sites (with 50 amp electric) 7 partial hook-up sites and twenty acres for rustic tent camping
The large and very clean Bath House is one of the best in the state! We have received rave reviews about it.
The Pegasus Farm is a working farm. We offer fields of Sunflowers, vegetable gardens, a grass maze to walk and birdwatch. There is also a pond for fishing. Our two horses, Gracie and her son, Pegasus, graze the fields daily.

Snowshoe has the biggest elevation drop of any skiresort in the region which in my oppinion makes it a realtively great ski resort. You can get more skiing done before you have to get on the lift again. Which I think is very important in a ski resort.... |
