Nearby lakes? Sure, Connallys Lake is near Moncove Lake; close by you stumble on the Potts Mountain Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting things at Moncove Lake. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Dunlap Creek, and Moncove Lake is perfect enough to spend more than       a day at, Moncove Lake State Park is a perfect local campground. For the period of the days of summer at Moncove Lake highs are usually in the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's; overnight lows during the winter for Moncove Lake tend to be in the 10's. You could also check out Moncove Lake while you're here at Moncove Lake; it's close by; if the weather is pretty, you acquire a great vista of                  High Head Mountain from Moncove Lake. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Johns Creek, and Moncove Lake Dam is a site that is in close proximity to Moncove Lake.
