All the water falling down from the sky makes Lake Sam Hill a wet site; July is when you get the most rain here; February is when it's the driest. There's some flowing water close       by, Little Thorny Creek is a stream you can go to while here; a short visit to McCarty Spring is always worthwhile. If only every spot had this much outdoors exciting things, what a great planet it would be. Going for a hike along the Scarlet Oak Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and everybody close by loves skiing at Snowshoe. The Horse Ridge can be seen from Lake Sam Hill; Bath County Pumped Storage Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit. Soar down the rapids of Greenbrier River in a kayak, and you can stay the night at Bird Run Campground. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Lake Sam Hill. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's.
