There are plenty of folks from Bluefield here at Lake Berwind; a perfect nearby hotel is Super 8 Richlands/Claypool Hill Area. This lake is so wonderful. There is a magnificent hiking trail in close proximity to Lake Berwind called the Blue Grass Trail. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Lake Berwind has to offer, you can camp at Panther State Forest. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Clinch River;

If you like the outdoors, you'll go for Lake Berwind. You'll find a scenic lake called Bishop Prep Plant Slurry Impoundment near Lake Berwind, and Big Branch is one of the streams nearby that might be worth stopping at. A lovely lake like Vallscreek Slurry Pond next to Lake Berwind is a good place to stop by, and there's whitewater on Little River - Clinch R. Tributary for all you adrenaline rush seekers. at Lake Berwind comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer night lows sink down to the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's while Lake Berwind overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's.
Lake Berwind sees pretty high levels of rain; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
