Some of the water close by flows, like Adonijah Fork. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Henderson Lake has to offer, you can camp at Fayetteville Mountain Laurel. Summertime highs at Henderson Lake typically tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 40's while the cold winter       nights at Henderson Lake are in the 20's. What a place this is for outdoors folks. A magnificent close by hotel is Henry Clay Hotel, and Henderson Dam has fine water scenery. This lake is so wonderful. Henderson Lake is a place with many visitors from Oak Hill, and good hiking is available along the Way Back Trail. Henderson Lake is a great spot to camp, Drift-a-bit white water is a great spot; after a long day outdoors Elk River Inn is a good site to spend                  a night or two. Near Henderson Lake you locate tremendous spots like Big Hollow, and a delightful place for whitewater paddling is Buffalo Creek - Elk Tributary. You can run the rapids of Gauley River in the vicinity of Henderson Lake, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Henderson Lake; Carnifex Trail is a wonderful local trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Henderson Lake a wet location; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
