A good deal of precipitation falls at Henderson Lake; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Gauley River, and you can stay the night at Madd Jack's       Campground. All through the long summer days at Henderson Lake highs are regularly in the 80's, and the nighttime is a bit cooler of course, usually in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Henderson Lake. Get your heart beating on the good whitewater of Buffalo Creek - Elk Tributary; Orchard Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Way Back Trail,                  and dry warm beds await you at Quality Inn New River Gorge. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Henderson Lake, you could also explore gorgeous Deerpond, and Henderson Dam is a site that is near Henderson Lake. Henderson Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, New River Campground is a great place to camp nearby, and you'll meet a lot of people from Oak Hill here. Just can't get enough of Henderson Lake.
