Hiking is a popular thing to do around Hawk Lake; Way Back Trail is a pleasant local trail, and if you need a location to stay New River Inn is a nice choice. Hawk Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; July is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Drift-a-bit white water since you're       here at Hawk Lake. After a long day outdoors Quality Inn New River is a great place to spend a night or two, and paddling on Laurel Creek - New River Tributary is so much fun. All the outdoors entertaining things in close proximity to Hawk Lake will keep you coming back many times. Big Creek is a magnificent local stream; camping at Hawk Lake is great fun, Fayetteville Mountain Laurel is a great local campground. For the duration of the summer months at Hawk                  Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's, and the overnight is fairly chillier of course, generally in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Hawk Lake are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. The Carnifex Trail offers hiking at its best; if you're looking for a delightful journey, Bluestone National Scenic River is pretty near. There are plenty of folks from Oak Hill here at Hawk Lake; drift down the rapids of Mill Creek - New River Tributary in a kayak.
