If you come at the right time of year, Mill Creek - New River Tributary offers some glorious whitewater, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Way Back Trail. A great deal of rain falls at Hawk Lake; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest month is February. Bluestone National Scenic River is a brilliant national park, and after a long day outdoors Quality Inn New River is a good place to spend a       night or two. Some close by water includes Big Creek, and do take a hike on the Carnifex Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Fayetteville Mountain Laurel is a good campground nearby, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Oakhill/New River Gorge, Wv. You can take a little journey to Gauley Junction Dam if you're here at Hawk Lake, and an afternoon playing golf at Bridge Haven Golf Club is always a joy. Now, you may believe that's plenty but there's even more                  fun stuff to do here at Hawk Lake. Lots of people from Oak Hill come to Hawk Lake; Drift-a-bit white water is a good local campground. At Hawk Lake through the summertime highs are in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Hawk Lake plunge into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful.
