Hawk Lake sees pretty high levels of rainfall; July is the month that gets the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. Holiday Inn Oakhill/New River Gorge, Wv is a nice spot to get some rest,       and in case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Laurel Creek - New River Tributary. If you need a spot to stay Quality Inn New River is a pleasant choice, and golf can be played at Bridge Haven Golf Club. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool things at Hawk Lake. If you're popping by Hawk Lake from Oak Hill, you won't be the only one; camping is available at Drift-a-bit white water. This                  lake is so wonderful. There's always Gauley Junction Dam to check out in close proximity to Hawk Lake; you can go for a hike on the Way Back Trail. You'll stumble on a picturesque lake called Plum Orchard Lake near Hawk Lake. Lakes are such serene sites, why not have a look at Coal Run in the neighborhood of Hawk Lake, and Mill Creek - New River Tributary has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot nearby. Take a side visit to Big Creek, and Bluestone National Scenic River is one of the destinations that are glorious to visit close by. Throughout the warm days of summer at Hawk Lake highs are mostly in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's.
