Douglas Lake is a good spot to camp, Pipestem Koa Kampground is a good spot, and this is a popular place for folks from Bluefield. This lake is so wonderful. If you crave a little side journey, try Oney Gap; Bratton Branch is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting. Be careful coming to Douglas Lake, you might not ever wanna go home again. Stumpy Bottom is a glorious place here       at Douglas Lake; you can stay the night at Walnut Flats Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Standing Branch Horse Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and Simon Fish Pond is a great lake nearby. You can never get enough of the wonderful skiing at Winterplace, and you can run the rapids of Brush Creek. Douglas Lake is right by the Hoof and Hill Trail; after a long day outdoors Budget Inn is a brilliant                  location to spend a night or two. Gateway Motel is a fine spot to get some rest. Douglas Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is November. Hiking along the Pearis Thompson Horse Trail is nice fun, and Bluestone River is a great whitewater spot nearby. Throughout the summertime months at Douglas Lake highs are ordinarily in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's.
