     Lakes? Sure, Heritage Lake is close at hand, and the summit of Sickle Hill can be seen from Appalachian Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Bluegill Pond is a magnificent lake close to Appalachian Lake; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Beaver Creek. Dry warm beds await you at Wisp Resort, and skiing at Wisp is one of those things you just should do.
If only every spot had this much outdoors exciting stuff, what
 
   a great world it would be. There's magnificent hiking along the Great Gorge Trail. There's so much to do here at Appalachian Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Sunrise Mountain is a wonderful location for that. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Fike Run for all you thrill seekers, and after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn At Deep Creek Lake is a nice spot to spend a night or two. During the summer months highs here at Appalachian  
               Lake get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Appalachian Lake.
The high level of rainfall makes Appalachian Lake a relatively wet location; the wettest month of the year is usually July, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest. The Mile Trail offers hiking at its best. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Appalachian Lake has to offer, you can camp at Tall Oaks Campground.
