The Lauterman Trail offers hiking at its best; a good nearby hotel is Iron Inn Motel. Through the warmest time of the year here at Van Zile Lake, high temperatures usually get into the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 20's; overnight lows through the winter for Van Zile Lake tend to be in the 0's.
