Thompson Lake is not the only location nearby, Knight Lake is a nearby lake; there are plenty of people from Merrill here at Thompson Lake. If you come at the right time of year, Prairie River offers some splendid whitewater, and if you get bored of Thompson Lake you could also stop by nearby Horn Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A good nearby hotel is Pine Ridge Inn, and camping at Birkensee       Resort is always a tremendous experience. Americinn - Merrill, Wi is a delightful spot to get some rest, and if you came to camp Council Grounds State Park is a delightful place to do that. Be careful coming to Thompson Lake, you might not ever wanna return home again. There are some great whitewater spots on Pine River; hey, Gotta ski right? Granite Peak is a nice place to do that. At Thompson Lake through the summertime months highs are in the 70's.                  When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 10's; nighttime lows through the wintertime for Thompson Lake tend to be in the-10's.
