Spruce Lake is a lake worth visiting. If the weather is glorious here at Spruce Lake, you can go for a hike along the Lauterman Trail, and you can never get enough of the great skiing at Brule Mountain. The Dendro Eco Trail is a pleasant hiking trail near Spruce Lake; dry warm beds await you at Americinn - Iron River, Mi. Chipmunk Creek is a delightful stream that is worth going to, and pleasant skiing awaits you at Ski Brule. It's always delightful to go to Chipmunk

| | Rapids, and in the event that you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Pine River. During the warm months at Spruce Lake temperatures are regularly in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. All through the wintertime highs are mostly in the 20's with temperatures at Spruce Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Walk-In Campground, and if you need a place to stay Best Western Lakewood Lodge is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Lost Lake, and whitewater paddling
is pleasant on Brule River. From a rainfall point of view Spruce Lake is a pretty normal place; the wettest month of the year is commonly August, that's the one that rains the most; the driest of the months is February. If you want
a great time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Spruce Lake. Lakes are pleasant; Grub Hoe Lake is a lake that's near Spruce Lake, and a tremendous location to camp here at Spruce Lake is Chipmunk Rapids Campground.

That untouched beauty remains only in a few unique areas left over from bygone days. Paint River Hills is truly one of those areas.
The highlight of Paint River Hills Campground is its hiking trail along the Paint River. The loop trail, about half-mile long, winds through and around the rock bluffs and hills that form the banks of the Paint River and for years has been the playground of local youngsters. The name “Paint River Hills” is the term used by locals to describe the location of the campground. Youngsters have named other areas such as Peeper Hollow, Big Rock Candy Mountain, White Pine Lookout, Fairy Tale Swamp, Rock Fort, Thistle Swamp and Camel Back Lookout.
As the trail leads you to several lookouts down the river identification signs greet you naming trees in native Ojibwa as well as Latin and English. You will wind through an old white cedar stand and see rare quartz rock outcroppings. You will have an opportunity to see abund... |
