The beauty of Spring Lake is reason enough to stop by. Spring Lake is not far at all from Iron Mountain, needless to say you could also explore Lilly Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. So much fun stuff to do here at Spring Lake, too nice to be true. A good location to camp here at Spring Lake is Iron Mountain Campgrounds, and get drenched paddling on Brule River. The amount of precipitation that falls at Spring Lake is close to the national average;

Skiing at Norway Mountain is one of those things you just have to do; Spring Lake is not the only spot close by, Frog Lake is a close by lake. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Budget Host Inn Iron Mountain, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Pine River.

at Eagle Mountain Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Rivers Bend Campground is always a delightful experience; let's not forget Pine River which is a stream that you may bump into while you're here. Throughout the
days of summer at Spring Lake highs are regularly in the 70's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Spring Lake.

I just took a 30 mile trip down this river with a group of 6 and three canoes. I thought it was great overall. There are a few shallow spots where we had to get out of the boat and pull it through the water but otherwise the depth is good. As far as the quote ''pretty good campgrounds'' go, these were not easily found but can be set up in the less dense forests alongside the water. The stretch over the hemlock rapids is a bit difficult on the lower hemlock but the upper is an exciting though slightly wet ride. The overall current throughout the river is not too fast so some paddling is needed. Thats about it, this is a great river. The scenery is beautiful, and if your staying overnight the stars are miraculous, so enjoy the view. If your in the trees alot watch out for ticks, (they found me well) but other than that, enjoy the ride.... |
