During the days of summer highs here at South Lake get into the 70's. Through the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 10's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at South Lake sink into the-10's. So much enjoyable stuff to do at South       Lake, so little time. If you need a spot to stay Super 8 Motel - Phillips is a fine choice; there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at close by Whitecap Mountain. Double E Resort is a great local campground, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Flambeau River - North Fork. There are some magnificent whitewater spots on Flambeau River - South Fork, and if you came for an overnight stay Smith River Campground is                  a tremendous location to camp. There are other spots here than South Lake, for example Island Lake. The annual precipitation here at South Lake is about average; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is frequently the driest month. This lake is so wonderful.
