Some nearby water includes Spread Eagle Outlet; great skiing awaits you at Norway Mountain. If you need a spot to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites IRON MOUNTAIN is a good choice; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out nearby Long Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Iron Mountain Campgrounds; unsurprisingly, this is a magnificent neighborhood for people who like lakes, East Lake is a lake close at hand.

Summertime highs at South Lake commonly tend to be in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to South Lake. This lake is so wonderful.

I just took a 30 mile trip down this river with a group of 6 and three canoes. I thought it was great overall. There are a few shallow spots where we had to get out of the boat and pull it through the water but otherwise the depth is good. As far as the quote ''pretty good campgrounds'' go, these were not easily found but can be set up in the less dense forests alongside the water. The stretch over the hemlock rapids is a bit difficult on the lower hemlock but the upper is an exciting though slightly wet ride. The overall current throughout the river is not too fast so some paddling is needed. Thats about it, this is a great river. The scenery is beautiful, and if your staying overnight the stars are miraculous, so enjoy the view. If your in the trees alot watch out for ticks, (they found me well) but other than that, enjoy the ride.... |
