Many people like to go to South Lake. If you want a wonderful time in the great outdoors, just come on down to South Lake. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Brule River, and most likely you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Long Lake is just a very short distance away. Here at South Lake you'll probably meet some folks from Iron Mountain, and hey, Spread Eagle Outlet is a great local stream. This lake is so wonderful. Golf can be played at Eagle Mountain

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites IRON MOUNTAIN is a delightful spot to spend a night or two, and why not head up to Norway Mountain and strap some skis to your feet. The amount of rainfall that falls at South Lake is close to the
national average; during June this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful.

Paint River

I just took a 30 mile trip down this river with a group of 6 and three canoes. I thought it was great overall. There are a few shallow spots where we had to get out of the boat and pull it through the water but otherwise the depth is good. As far as the quote ''pretty good campgrounds'' go, these were not easily found but can be set up in the less dense forests alongside the water. The stretch over the hemlock rapids is a bit difficult on the lower hemlock but the upper is an exciting though slightly wet ride. The overall current throughout the river is not too fast so some paddling is needed. Thats about it, this is a great river. The scenery is beautiful, and if your staying overnight the stars are miraculous, so enjoy the view. If your in the trees alot watch out for ticks, (they found me well) but other than that, enjoy the ride.... |
