After a long day outdoors Americinn - Hayward, Wi is a tremendous spot to spend a night or two, and there are other sites here than Snake Lake, for example Crooked Lake. Any time is a great time at Snake Lake if you fancy the outdoors. The amount of rainfall that falls at Snake Lake is close to the national average; all through August this area sees the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Swansons Motel and Campground is a
fine campground nearby; there's whitewater on Totogatic River for all you adrenaline people.
If you need a spot to stay Northern Pine Inn is a pleasant choice, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Eau Claire River. Not far from Snake Lake, you'll come across Sawyer Lake which is a beautiful lake; you can stay the night at Tyman's Motel and Campground. At Snake Lake through the long summer days highs are in the

80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Snake Lake descend into the-10's.

MORE STUFF NEARBY:

Totogatic River
Water levels must be high to do the Upper Totogatic. Otherwise you'll be dragging your canoe over rocks. But it's very wild and remote. There are also old copper mines along the river if you know where to look. Also beware that the area was sacred to the spirit Wanabuju! http://www.atthecreation.com/TOGATIG/TOGA.html...

Namekagon River
11 miles away
This river has nearly 70 miles of river that can be paddled. It goes all the way from the Hayward landing to the Riverside landing after it joins the St Croix River. This river could easily be made into a 3-4 night paddle. It has quite a few canoe campsites and also access to freshwater at several landings.
