There are some great whitewater spots on Little Wolf River, and at Scandinavia Dam in the vicinity of Sand Lake there are some interesting things to see. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Embarrass River - South Branch. This lake is so wonderful. Do pop by Gurholt Lake right next door       to Sand Lake, it's a beautiful lake; hey, Peterson Creek is a wonderful local stream. A lovely lake like Meed Lake near Sand Lake is a magnificent spot to check out, and golf can be played at Foxfire Golf Club. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things next to Sand Lake. After a long day outdoors Best Western Grand Seasons Hotel is a perfect site to spend a night or two; Sand Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Royal Oaks Golf Resort                  is a brilliant local campground. At Sand Lake all through the summer highs are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Sand Lake temperatures descend to the 0's.
