If you need a place to stay Americinn Shell Lake is a good choice, and Sand Lake is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Rosenthal's Resort is a perfect local campground. For the duration of the long summer days highs here at Sand Lake get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Sand Lake are in the-10's. This lake is so       wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western American Heritage Inn, and St. Croix River has a nice whitewater paddling spot nearby. Whitewater paddling is good on Upper Tamarack River, and if you're here you can play some golf at Black Bear Golf Club. The amount of rain that falls at Sand Lake is close to the national average; most of the rain falls all through August while February is usually the driest month.
