     Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Crandon Inn & Suites; why not head up to Brule Mountain and strap some skis to your feet. Summertime at Porcupine Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are usually in the 20's, and nighttime lows at Porcupine Lake during the winter generally dip into the 0's. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun stuff at Porcupine  
   Lake. If you get bored of Porcupine Lake, you could also go to nearby Lake of Dreams, and Americinn - Iron River, Mi is a great place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Porcupine Lake is right by the Dendro Eco Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Chipmunk Rapids Campground is a perfect site to camp.
Brule River is a glorious whitewater spot in close proximity to Porcupine Lake, and Porcupine Lake is not the only spot close by, Hemlock
 
               Lake is a close by lake. An average amount of rainfall falls at Porcupine Lake; throughout August this area sees the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful.
Why not take a refreshing hike along the Lauterman Trail; in case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Pine River. Camping is available at Florence County Park Campground, and the snow is great at Ski Brule.

...ers of the area during the middle 1800’s were attracted to its virgin forests and the rich mineral content of the ground. That untouched beauty remains only in a few unique areas left over from bygone days. Paint River Hills is truly one of those areas.

The highlight of Paint River Hills Campground is its hiking trail along the Paint River. The loop trail, about half-mile long, winds through and around the rock bluffs and hills that form the banks of the Paint River and for years has been the playground of local youngsters. The name “Paint River Hills” is the term used by locals to describe the location of the campground. Youngsters have named other areas such as Peeper Hollow, Big Rock Candy Mountain, White Pine Lookout, Fairy Tale Swamp, Rock Fort, Thistle Swamp and Camel Back Lookout.

As the trail leads you to several lookouts down the river identification signs greet you naming trees in native Ojibwa as well as Latin and English. You will wind through an old white cedar stand and see rare quartz rock outcroppings. You will have an opportunity to see abundant wildlif...
