There are some great whitewater spots on Wisconsin River, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Pickerel Lake; East Bluff Trail is a magnificent local trail. This lake is so wonderful. Sky High Camping Resort II is a great campground nearby; you'll meet a lot of folks from Madison here. The yearly rainfall here at Pickerel Lake is about average; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily August, that's the one       that rains the most while February is regularly the driest month. But wait, there's more to do in the vicinity of Pickerel Lake. The slopes of Cascade Mountain are so inviting nobody can resist. Lakes? Sure, Fulton Pond is nearby. Pickerel Lake is a delightful spot to visit for more than one day, Camp Dakota Campgrounds is a delightful spot to camp nearby, and not far from Pickerel Lake you'll find Lost Lake which is a lovely lake. Enjoy a lazy day on the beach                  at Silver Lake Beach, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Suites Portage. Just can't get enough of Pickerel Lake. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Baraboo River, and there's wonderful hiking along the Grottos Trail. The warmest time of the year at Pickerel Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and the overnight is a bit cooler of course, usually in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Pickerel Lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you're hooked on cool geologic characteristics, try Saint Lawrence Bluff, and after a long day outdoors Portage - Days Inn is a splendid site to spend a night or two.
