If you like lakes and you're in this part of Wisconsin you can check out Otter Lake. Through the summertime months highs here at Otter Lake reach the 70's while night lows are usually in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 10's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Otter Lake descend into the-10's. month of June you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is February. This place, Otter Lake, it just has so much outdoors cool stuff. Big Powderhorn Mountain is a brilliant local ski area, and a good spot
for whitewater paddling is Turtle River. Looking for something in the neighborhood of Otter Lake? Hewitt Lake is in the vicinity, and Comfort Inn Ironwood is a delightful site to get some rest. The skiing at Indianhead is fine;
you're probably into lakes, Negro Lakes is one of those close by. Just can't get enough of the Gogebic Range. Take a little tour to Mosinee Creek while you're here at Otter Lake, and get your heart beating on the delightful whitewater of Black River. This lake is one of the great places here in the Gogebic Range.

Armour Lake
 | 18 miles away My aunt and uncle, Della and Deac Vilutis, owned the resort in the 50's and early 60's. I have many memories if my dad and I fishing on all those lakes. It was truly a beautiful area to grow up in....The lake is spring fed and is connected to Horsehead lake via river and also to North Crab lake and Crab lake. Walleye, large mouth bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike and sunfish are native to this lake. The lake is 355 acres which host Bill's Island, a public campground that is accessable via boat/canoe. There is one state owned access to this lake on the north side. Many years ago, Armour Lake Resort had been built by my great, great uncle and then owned in the early 40's by my parents who are now both deceased. The resort has since been purchased as a private residence. As a child growing up we have some wonderful memories about this beautiful, spring fed lake. I miss it.... |
