So many cool things to do here in the Gogebic Range, too good to be true. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 10's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Otter Lake temperatures sink to the-10's. enough to spend more than a day at, Big 6 RV Resort and Campground is a brilliant local campground, and hey, Gotta ski right? Indianhead is a tremendous place to do that. This lake is so wonderful. A lake close by is Negro Lakes,
and a magnificent site for whitewater paddling is Turtle River. That right there is heaps already, but it carries on; Otter Lake has it all. After a long day outdoors Americinn - Ironwood, Mi is a nice place to spend a night or two,
and you can go for a hike on the Rainbow Falls Trail. All year is a good time in the Gogebic Range if you fancy the outdoors. A splendid spot to camp here at Otter Lake is Henry Lake Campground, and you can run the rapids of Black River. This lake is so wonderful.

Armour Lake
 | 18 miles away My aunt and uncle, Della and Deac Vilutis, owned the resort in the 50's and early 60's. I have many memories if my dad and I fishing on all those lakes. It was truly a beautiful area to grow up in....The lake is spring fed and is connected to Horsehead lake via river and also to North Crab lake and Crab lake. Walleye, large mouth bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike and sunfish are native to this lake. The lake is 355 acres which host Bill's Island, a public campground that is accessable via boat/canoe. There is one state owned access to this lake on the north side. Many years ago, Armour Lake Resort had been built by my great, great uncle and then owned in the early 40's by my parents who are now both deceased. The resort has since been purchased as a private residence. As a child growing up we have some wonderful memories about this beautiful, spring fed lake. I miss it.... |
