Through the months of summer highs here at Old Elk Lake get into the 80's; the nighttime is rather cooler of course, generally in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's with temperatures at Old Elk Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights.       After a long day outdoors Eau Claire - Days Inn West is a fine place to spend a night or two, and Red Cedar River has a magnificent whitewater paddling spot close by.
