A lake close by is Switzer Lake, and nearby you stumble on Boatyard Hollow which is a fine place to check out. O'Leary Lake is a good place of typical precipitation; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Chestnut Mountain while you're here, and glide down the rapids of Little Platte River in       a kayak. You'll need more than a day to discover everything O'Leary Lake has to offer, you can camp at Rustic Barn Campground, and why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Bunker Hill Golf Course. And that's not all you can do here at O'Leary Lake. What would winter be without some skiing at Sundown Mountain; Hotel Julien Dubuque is a perfect location to get some rest. You don’t have to go far from O'Leary Lake to see the water at                  Mississippi River Lock Dam Number Eleven; the good people of Dubuque like to hang out nearby. Stay the night at Dubuque Yacht Basin and RV Park; naturally Sinnipee Creek is a picturesque stream that is worth visiting. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Dubuque, Ia is a good choice, and O'Leary Lake is not the only spot close by, Frentress Lake is a close by lake. High temperatures at O'Leary Lake all through the warm days of summer are in the 80's, and the night is quite cooler of course, ordinarily in the 60's.
