Half Moon Lake
16 miles away The landing is very steep and hard to get back up in the winter but the fishing can be great if you find the right spot to fish. Lot of shacks out there becouse the Eauplane is so low. A lot of good fisherman having a good time on the ice. Halfmoon bar has great food and drinks next to the landing so stop in and say hi. Bring the gang and your gear and we will see ya at Halfmoon....
Yellow River
18 miles away Some friends and I went Kayaking on the Yellow River on April 19th, 08 and were suprised at the stage of rapids that we paddled. The water is fast, deep and unforgiving. Be careful!!! Make sure you wear helmets, take tow ropes and be prepared to get wet!!!...
Granite Peak
24 miles away 5 PHOTOS This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane.... i have lived and snowboarded in Colorado and Austria. For the Midwest only Lutsen in Minn. can be compared! The vertical keeps you challenged unlike the resorts in the U.P. and the rest of the Midwest! Only 3 hrs from Milwaukee!!! love it if you are in the Midwest and can't head WEST!!!...
