The beauty of Mud Lake is reason enough to stop by. Mud Lake is a good location of typical rain; most of the rain falls throughout September, and the driest of the months is January. This lake is so wonderful. Beaulieu Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at, and dry warm beds await you at Shawano Super 8 Motel. Near Mud Lake you find the Popple Ridge Snowmobile Trail which is a good hiking trail, and get your heart pumping on the tremendous whitewater of Wolf River - West Branch.
