This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by Lake Alice, and hey, Camp Seven Creek is a great local stream. A great close by hotel is Park Falls Super 8 Motel; in case you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Chippewa River - East Fork. If you came for an overnight stay Butternut Lake       Campground is a delightful site to camp, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Great Divide Snowmobile Trail. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. Camping at Mud Lake is perfect fun, Soo Lake Resort is a perfect local campground, and after a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel - Phillips is a perfect place to spend a night or two. For the period of the warmest time of the year at Mud Lake temperatures are generally in the 80's. During                  the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are generally in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Mud Lake.
