If you need a spot to stay Park Falls Super 8 Motel is a tremendous choice. From a rain point of view Mud Lake is a rather common spot; all through the month of August you get the most rain around here, and February is when it's the driest. Price Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to, and Soo Lake Resort is a delightful local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Put some       time aside to spend at Jackson Springs while you're here at Mud Lake, and a quick journey to Beaver Creek is absolutely a great idea. Mud Lake is a good location to visit for more than one day, Archer's Trucking is a good location to camp nearby; if you get bored of Mud Lake you could also explore close by Bass Lake.
