Visit Balsam Branch if you're here at Mud Lake, and whitewater paddling is nice on Apple River. There's so much to do here at Mud Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Port Valhalla Campground is a magnificent place for that, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Wild Mountain. Mud Lake is not the only place close by, Wapogasset Lake is a close by lake;       if you're here, do take a tour to Hickory Point. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff right next door to Mud Lake. Looking for a magnificent trip? Saint Croix National Scenic River is relatively close to Mud Lake, and if you need a place to stay Super 8 Motel - New Richmond is a great choice. Dry warm beds await you at Americinn - New Richmond, Wi, and if you've had enough of Mud Lake, Joe Lake is close by. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling                  on St. Croix River is so much fun. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Mud Lake has to offer, you can camp at Cast-a-way Trailer Park. The annual rain here at Mud Lake is about average; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is commonly the driest month. Trollhaugen is a very popular ski area close at hand; if you're here and you like golf, you can stop by Amery Golf Club. At Mud Lake during the months of summer highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's.
