     A nice place for whitewater paddling in close proximity to Mud Lake is Pine River; if you came to camp Lauterman Lake Walk-In Campground is a great location to do that. There's so much to do here at Mud Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Chipmunk Rapids Campground is a fine location for that. Lakes? Sure, Little Porcupine Lake is in the neighborhood. Spruce Lake is a delightful lake close to Mud Lake, and there is a glorious hiking trail nearby called  
   the Dendro Eco Trail. Mud Lake gets a normal amount of rainfall; throughout the month of August you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is February.
This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Crandon Inn & Suites. If only every location had this much outdoors exciting things, what a great planet it would be. Brule River is a nice whitewater spot near Mud Lake, and let's not forget Chipmunk Creek which is
 
               a stream that you may come across while you're here. This lake is so wonderful. The skiing at Ski Brule is good, and the Lauterman Trail is a brilliant hiking trail close by.
Everybody close by loves skiing at Brule Mountain; after a long day outdoors Americinn - Iron River, Mi is a magnificent place to spend a night or two. High temperatures at Mud Lake during the summertime are in the 70's with night lows in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Mud Lake.

... of the area during the middle 1800’s were attracted to its virgin forests and the rich mineral content of the ground. That untouched beauty remains only in a few unique areas left over from bygone days. Paint River Hills is truly one of those areas.

The highlight of Paint River Hills Campground is its hiking trail along the Paint River. The loop trail, about half-mile long, winds through and around the rock bluffs and hills that form the banks of the Paint River and for years has been the playground of local youngsters. The name “Paint River Hills” is the term used by locals to describe the location of the campground. Youngsters have named other areas such as Peeper Hollow, Big Rock Candy Mountain, White Pine Lookout, Fairy Tale Swamp, Rock Fort, Thistle Swamp and Camel Back Lookout.

As the trail leads you to several lookouts down the river identification signs greet you naming trees in native Ojibwa as well as Latin and English. You will wind through an old white cedar stand and see rare quartz rock outcroppings. You will have an opportunity to see abundant wildlife, ...
