Day Lake Campground is a great campground nearby; lakes are such calm sites, why not check out Day Lake. For the duration of the summer months at Mud Lake highs are generally in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 20's while Mud Lake overnight low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 0's. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors       enjoyable things the area right next door to Mud Lake has to offer. There is a perfect hiking trail right next door to Mud Lake called the Black Lake Trail, and whitewater paddling is great on Brunsweiler River. The Gogebic Range scenery is always beautiful. You absolutely should love the Gogebic Range. After a long day outdoors Best Western Holiday House is a good place to spend a night or two, and the Great Divide Snowmobile Trail is a good hiking trail                  nearby. A delightful nearby hotel is Ashland Super 8 Motel; you can stay the night at Chippewa River Campground. From a rain point of view Mud Lake is a pretty common place; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month of the year is February. Man, is there a lot of amusing things to do in the Gogebic Range. Near Mud Lake you discover the North Country Trail which is a good hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful.
