The skiing at Granite Peak is perfect; if you need a location to stay Super 8 Mosinee/Wausau is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water nearby, Bull Junior Creek is a stream you can explore while here, and a lake nearby is Half Moon Lake. Summer at Mosinee Flowage arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Mosinee Flowage is good enough to spend more than a day at, Rib Mountain State Park is a good local campground, and if you came to camp Lake Dubay Shores
Campground is a magnificent site to do that. Mosinee Flowage gets a normal amount of rainfall; September is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful.

 | The landing is very steep and hard to get back up in the winter but the fishing can be great if you find the right spot to fish. Lot of shacks out there becouse the Eauplane is so low. A lot of good fisherman having a good time on the ice. Halfmoon bar has great food and drinks next to the landing so stop in and say hi. Bring the gang and your gear and we will see ya at Halfmoon.... |

This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane....
