My dad, Walter Merhalski, one of the residents of Florence, Wisconsin, in the 1930's, used to walk, as a boy, from his home in Florence to Montgomery Lake in the summertime. Quite a hike!

Wisconsin has many beautiful lakes and Montgomery Lake is one of them. Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites IRON MOUNTAIN is a fine location to get some rest; there are other spots here than Montgomery Lake, for example Spread Eagle Chain of Lakes. If you're popping by Montgomery Lake from Iron Mountain, you won't be the only one. At Montgomery Lake throughout the long summer days highs are in the 70's. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. After a long day outdoors Budget Host Inn Iron Mountain is a great place to spend a night or two, and lakes are such peaceful spots, why not visit Lost Lake. most rain while February is regularly the driest month. Camping at Golden Eagle Park and Campground is always a nice experience; get your heart beating on the good whitewater of Brule River.
If you like skiing, you're in luck;
Norway Mountain is close to Montgomery Lake, and why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf course like Eagle Mountain Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. A nice spot to camp here at Montgomery Lake is Rivers Bend Campground; you can run the rapids of Paint River.
