    A visit to Monson Lake is always a good idea. This lake is so wonderful. Take some time to explore Governor Knowles State Forest since you're here, and Saint Croix National Scenic River is a good national park. Lodge at Crooked Lake is a wonderful place to get some rest; swamps don’t sound that tremendous but Currey Flowage right next door to Monson Lake is reasonably tremendous. The yearly precipitation here at Monson Lake is about average; during the month  
   of June you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Whitewater paddling is perfect on St. Croix River; delightful hiking is available along the Markville Snowmobile Trail. If you need a place to stay Best Western Northwoods Lodge is a good choice, and you can go for a hike on the Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary State Trail. Be careful coming to Monson Lake, you might not ever wanna return back home again.
 
               Stay the night at Paint Rock Spring Campground; Crex Meadows Dam is a striking place.
Monson Lake is a great location to visit for more than one day, Old Logging Trail Campground is a great location to camp nearby, and paddling on Kettle River is so much fun. For the period of the summer months at Monson Lake highs are usually in the 80's, and the overnight is slightly cooler of course, generally in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 10's; nighttime lows throughout the winter for Monson Lake tend to be in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful.
