Summertime highs at Mirror Lake frequently tend to be in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. You can run the rapids of New Wood River
in close proximity to Mirror Lake, and do visit Spring Pond, it's a delightful lake. Mirror Lake gets a typical amount of precipitation; September is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month of the year is February.

This is a 4-5 hour drive from the n/w side of Chicago . . . and *definately* worth it. Some buddies and I go up for a few days every winter and I have to say, this is the best you're going to find without doubling your driving time or hopping on an airplane....
