Sure, Heart Lake is close by; you can run the rapids of Planter Creek. From a rain point of view Mermaid Lake is a quite common place; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. Now, you may assume that's plenty but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Gogebic Range. This lake is so wonderful. Best Western Concord Inn is a splendid place to get some rest, and       if you're here you can take a hike along the Alligator Eye Trail. There are other sites here than Mermaid Lake, for example Armour Lake, and there's whitewater on Presque Isle for all you adrenaline kick people. The Gogebic Range scenery is always beautiful. Camping is available at Presque Isle Campground; if you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Minocqua is a great choice. At Mermaid Lake through the days of summer highs are in the 70's, and during summer                  nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 10's, and nighttime lows in the-10's for Mermaid Lake. And if that's not enough there's heaps more enjoyable stuff to do in the Gogebic Range.
